About Us
Iriguun Development organization {IDO} is a non-governmental organization initiated in January 2018 to help spearhead community driven development initiatives and enable needy community groups participate in integrated activities to achieve quality livelihood and be self- sustainable. IDO delivers its activities through the power and spirit of volunteerism approach to build sustainable communities / intercultural exchange and thriving villages in our country. Our main purpose is promoting youth empowerments, education, human rights, women empowerments, economic development and climate change among Somali communities.
IDO aspires to improve the living conditions of the poor and marginalized groups by adopting strategies through community initiative, participation and sensitization. The organization is registered to work in all the federal state governments of Somalia through various, Subsequent response to series of consultative meetings in Mogadishu/Baidoa and outside of Somalia, the founders responded to the urgent need of Somalia people and contributed into the emergency social reconciliation and development of their country rehabilitation and reconstruction after years of destructive conflicts and successive droughts and famines which led to the total collapse of socio-economic and political institutions.
IDO founders laid a strong principal of social reconciliation to ensure development intervention programs are holistic, people-centered, community based and sustainable. Therefore, sustainable peace approaches are adopted for all IDO strategic and short- term program focus in SOMALIA.
IDO sustainable peace program interventions only add to the current humanitarian and developmental commitments in Somalia, by utilizing principally grass-root solutions to vulnerable community challenges and needs. The organization corresponds to the existing international and national humanitarian and development strategies.
The organization puts into operation participatory approaches, strategic planning and community mobilization to find solutions to community problems, IDO comprises of diverse and dynamic group of competent people from different background. IDO has 7 executive members with 3 female members. Each member of IDO has specific qualities that has helped to sustain and run the organization. From health to management, nursing to administration, social sciences and information technology, the team comprises of diverse groups and the key members of the team are well-equipped with skills in writing grant proposals and applications, planning, implementation and monitoring of programs, report writing, research and M&E, coordination & management and innovations and application of technology.

Our main goal is to have capable and committed members of community that could lead to affect positive impact to their human rights status as well as to the changing socio-political situation of Somalia in transition to peaceful constitutional democracy and sustainable economic progress.
We aim to do this by developing programs of work, as well as initiatives that bring a fresh approach and creativity to addressing the challenges faced by our people. We are particularly interested to: –
- Influence and implement changes in attitude, processes and decision-making at village, provincial and national levels in ways that benefit all;
- Engage education and work-skills trainings for less advantaged and marginalized in our society;
- Control and maximize local economic resources and managing drought and other reoccurring crisis.
